Global Healthcare Opportunities or GHO Capital Partners has invested in Germany-based pharma packaging solutions provider Sanner Group.

Based in Bensheim, Sanner supplies packaging solutions and components for customers in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, nutraceutical and medtech industries.

The company mainly focuses on the manufacturing of desiccant closures and effervescent packaging solutions.

Sanner also offers customised solutions for medical and diagnostics, consumer healthcare and pharma applications.

Sanner is said to produce four billion plastic parts per annum for standard and customised packaging solutions.

With more than 600 employees, the company operates manufacturing facilities across France, Hungary and China.

GHO intends to support Sanner to advance its growth plans through the expansion of its manufacturing sites in Germany and China, in addition to developing capabilities to enable expansion in US markets.

GHO will leverage Sanner’s R&D and manufacturing capabilities to boost product expansion initiatives, sales and investment in business development to deliver margin improvements and enhance capacity to boost growth.

Sanner will also focus on increasing the use of bio-based plastics across its product portfolio, thereby helping to reduce CO2 emissions and protect the environment.

Sanner shareholder Jürgen Sanner said: “We have been observing increasing consolidation in the market for some time now. As a medium-sized company, we must react if we want to remain successful in the long term.

“With GHO, we have found a strong partner that specialises in the healthcare and medtech sectors and offers us further opportunities for successful growth.”

Wilkie Farr & Gallagher served as legal advisor to GHO on the transaction, while Roland Berger acted as commercial advisor, Deloitte as financial and tax advisor and ERM as ESG advisor.

Rittershaus served as legal advisor to Sanner and Solid Trust as M&A advisor.
