Irish-owned global packaging solutions company Zeus has completed the acquisition of Ireland-based packaging firm JJ O’Toole.

JJ O’Toole, established in 1914, caters to customers including Dunnes Stores, Brown Thomas, and Newbridge Silverware.

The acquisition of JJ O’Toolee is expected to expand Zeus’ capabilities in the retail, e-commerce, industrial, and food and beverage industries.

JJ O’Toole owner and managing director Vicki O’Toole said: “JJ O’Toole has an incredible history of survival and success with a kaleidoscope of wonderful stories.

“The company has been the centre of packaging excellence in Ireland for over a century with an outstanding reputation, endorsed by an exceptional loyal clientele, many who have remained with the company for over 40 years.”

O’Toole added: “I am extremely proud and honoured to have steered the company successfully into its 108th year.

“It has been a very emotional decision to sell JJ O’Toole but I believe the time is right and I am very confident the company will continue its successful journey under the robust and global Zeus umbrella.

“There are many synergies between both our companies, and I have no doubt our combined unique skillsets will result in a very positive and successful collaboration.

“My colleagues and I are very much looking forward to working closely alongside Brian O’Sullivan and his team.”

Zeus expects to have annualised revenue of €500m next year and anticipates generating annualised sales of more than €400m this year.

The company has already purchased the UK businesses Swanline Group and BoxMart as well as the Canadian agricultural supply company Agri-Flex in 2022.

It has added €60m in revenue through acquisition over the last nine months.

Founded in 1998, Zeus employs more than 870 people worldwide and its customers include Clipper Logistics, Lidl, Harrods, Moet & Chandon, Ryanair and McDonald’s.
