Swiss packaging solutions provider SIG has partnered with Brazil-based Mupy, a reference brand for soy drinks with fruit juice, for carton packs and filling services.

Under the partnership, SIG will provide packaging and services to Mupy via a copacker.

The packaging firm will offer high-speed and flexible filling machines, through which the juice brand expects to achieve future growth with soy and juice beverages.

These machines are said to have a high-efficiency rate with a waste rate of 0.5% only.

Additionally, SIG claimed that its filling machines offer the highest degree of versatility. They also enable the filling of goods with varying viscosities and categories in varying volume sizes using a single filling machine.

Mupy will provide two SIG carton types for its soy and juice drinks including SIG MiniBloc 200 ml and SIG MidiBloc 1,000 ml. The flavours available are grape, pineapple, apple, passion fruit, strawberry, orange, and peach.

The duo of juice and soy milk give Mupy the ability to expand the range of products it offers in the juice and plant-based drink category.

The combination is intended for consumers who are becoming more health-conscious while also meeting the growing demand for plant-based substitutes.

SIG America South marketing head Renata Kasahara said: “With our agile and flexible filling system, customers are well positioned to respond efficiently to any trend that is shaping the market.”

“Carton packaging is among the most sustainable packaging options. 75% of its composition is paperboard from renewable sources and at SIG, 100% of the paperboard we source is FSCTM-certified.

“All of the aluminium we purchase for SIG aseptic carton packs is certified against the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative Standards and we produce all our cartons with 100% renewable electricity.”

Mupy anticipates expansion in the upcoming years using SIG’s packaging solutions to achieve the target of doubling turnover by 2025.

In 2023, the company manufactured 11.7 million litres of soy drinks with fruit juice.

Mupy CEO Alexandre Moreno said: “In 2023 we grew by more than 22% compared to 2022 and our plan is to double our turnover by 2025. For this, the partnership between Mupy and SIG is fundamental.”
