Specialty pharmaceutical labeling solutions provider Schreiner MediPharm has developed a dosing syringe label for the syringe system made by Raumedic.

Schreiner MediPharm is a business unit of Schreiner Group, a developer and manufacturer of functional labels and labeling solutions.
The syringe label helps in preventing potential dosage errors of the medicine and false trial outcomes.
Raumedic developed a dosing system to lower the dosage errors risk while dispensing critical medications.
The liquid dosing device is based on commonly used oral syringes for volumes of one, five and ten milliliters.
The device’s mechanism is equipped with a button which allows healthcare professional to adjust the correct dose and fix the selected setting by pushing the button prior to the syringe’s usage for the first time.
Schreiner MediPharm said the syringe setting would thus be fixed at a wrong level and could no longer be readjusted to the accurate level, which would lead to under- or overdosing.
The protective label developed by Schreiner MediPharm is wrapped around the syringe, covering the button. This visual barrier prevents the risk of the user accidentally pushing the button.
It becomes visible only after the required dose has been drawn up and the label opened at the starter tab.
The button can be locked by depressing it and the label features a reference to the user directions that must be read before fixing the dose.
The tailored dosing syringe label is claimed to improve the safety of handling the dosing syringe and help avoid dosage errors.
Last month, Schreiner MediPharm said it will showcase its new NFC-Label for digital authentication of autoinjectors in October at PDA Universe of Pre-filled Syringes in Orlando and at Healthcare Packaging Expo in Chicago.
The company’s new NFC-Label for autoinjectors, in combination with a corresponding smartphone app, informs users if the product is still in its orginally sealed condition.
The autoinjector-Label wraps around the autoinjector, including the cap, and has an integrated NFC chip that is easily read with a smartphone app.
