Reflex Group, a provider of labels and flexible packaging solutions, has acquired Macfarlane Labels and its subsidiaries from Macfarlane Group.

The deal included the acquisition of Macfarlane Labels’ subsidiaries Macfarlane Group Ireland (Labels & Packaging) and Macfarlane Group Sweden.

Macfarlane Labels, which was acquired for £6.4m, is engaged in the designing and printing of quality self-adhesive and resealable labels mainly for FMCG companies.

Macfarlane Labels reported a profit before tax of £0.3m for the year ended 31 December 2020. It had gross assets of £15.1m as of 31 December 2020.

The labels division employs 109 employees who will continue with the business after closing the deal.

Macfarlane Group will use the proceeds from the deal to continue the growth of its protective packaging businesses.

Macfarlane Group CEO Peter Atkinson said: “Macfarlane Labels has been a long-standing part of the Group. We believe that its sale to Reflex, with their well-established position and scale in the labels market, creates the best opportunity for Macfarlane Labels to develop.

“The sale will allow the Group to focus resources on growing our protective packaging businesses both in the UK and Europe.”
