Polish label converter Mal-Pol has purchased a Mark Andy Performance Series P5 press to boost its business in the country.

Mark Andy said that the sale of the press marks a significant milestone in its increasing market penetration in Europe

Mark Andy European managing director Tom Cavalco said: “This was a key sale to secure, as it breaks the grip of our competitors and highlights the added benefits that the Performance Series offers converters who are looking to diversify into more profitable market sectors.”

The Mark Andy P5 press purchased by Mal-Pol is an 8-color flexo line featuring a 430mm web width fitted with dual unwind and rewind, web cleaning, corona treater and web turn bars, as well as chilled impression rolls.

Additional features of the press include a cold foil capability and an automatic register system.

Mark Andy said that the press is designed to allow Mal-Pol to develop its peel/reseal label business

Mal-Pol director Maciej Malesa said that the press is fitted with Mark Andy Compact Parallel Web Translator at the converting section to enable production of multi-layer labels. This makes the press a highly versatile performer.

Malesa added: “The ease and speed of make-ready on the Mark Andy has opened up all sorts of new job opportunities with shorter and medium runs lengths.”

Mal-Pol, which is engaged in supplying labels to the food, cosmetics, automotive, and industrial markets, such as fuel oil, operates in-house ink kitchen.

The firm plans to add a 1,400ft2 extension to its 2,000ft2 facility in Poland. It late intends to add BRC accreditation to its existing ISO status.

Malesa further said: “With EU regulations requiring more information to be printed on each label, and the use of multi-language labels, we need to engage in lateral thinking to develop our portfolio – the new Mark Andy is an important part of that plan, because we see it as a platform for business development.”
