Integrated packaging solutions provider Multivac has announced the expansion of the production facility in Bozhurishte, Bulgaria.

The company has turned the first spadeful of earth for the extension work at the production site in Eastern Europe.

With an area covering up to 5,000m2, the expansion project will include the construction of new production and assembly facilities, as well as modern offices.

Expected to be completed in autumn of this year, the new production and assembly facilities are being developed with an investment of about €5m.

Multivac Bulgaria production EOOD managing director Miyryam Servet Mustafa said: “The results achieved since the factory was opened have prompted our decision to continue investing in Bulgaria.

“I am convinced that this building extension will provide many exciting new opportunities, and further production areas will emerge in the future.

“Not only will it provide a steadily growing number of jobs in the location, but it also shows that we have an outstanding development in Bulgaria.”

The Bozhurishte site already consists of a factory building with the latest manufacturing technology and pre-assembly areas, in addition to a shared services facility.

In 2018, the production site at Bozhurishte became operational.

Multivac also stated that the sales company for Bulgaria, which includes its own showroom and training facility for customers and staff, is also situated on the site.

Multivac manages 12 additional production sites in Germany, Austria, Spain, Brazil, China, Japan and the US, as well as over 80 sales and service companies across the world.

Earlier this month, Multivac announced the construction of a new sales and production facility in Ghiloth in the Indian state of Rajasthan.
