Gerhard Schubert has developed a new, patented heat-sealing technology for the the Flowmodul flow-wrapping component to pack heat-sensitive products even more gently in flow-wrap bags.

The company said it will unveil the heat-sealing technology at this year’s PackExpo event in Chicago, US, which will take place between 14 and 17 October.
At the event, the company will present the latest model variant of the Flowmodul flow-wrapping component, which features an open machine layout, supporting accessibility for maintenance and cleaning.
The patented heat-sealing technology enables in efficient packaging of heat-sensitive products in flow-wrap bags.
Schubert is providing a range of sealing technologies for the customers to help them select suitable processes for their products.
The company has designed a new heat-sealing technology specifically for highly sensitive products.
In the case of hot-seal films, Flowmodul adjusts to the variable speeds of the upstream F44 robots, without having an effect on the seal quality or the tightness of the flow-wrap bags.
The patented flying transverse sealing unit offers enhanced flexibility for the customers. It can set the sealing time, if hermetically sealed packages are required.
The machine showcased at the event features new and quickly-adjusted heat-sealing technology.
The system can package mixpacks with two different products, including one biscuit each with white chocolate and one with brown chocolate.
Schubert’s machine holds capacity to achieve an output of 250 products or 125 flow-wrap bags per minute.
Alternatively, the flow-wrapping machine can be offered with a non-rotating ultrasonic longitudinal sealing unit to be used for films with high barrier effect.
Schubert noted that both machines are characterised by low heat development, which makes them to be used for heat-sensitive products such as chocolate.
The Flowmodul provides flexibility to integrate into the packaging machine manufacturer’s modular machine concept, enabling to package products in flow-wrap bags.
Via single HMI interface, the -wrapping component can be operated together with the entire line.
The Flowmodul is supported by standard Schubert components such as the image recognition system, helping to enter only perfect products into the feed chain.
This function can be easily implemented with an additional sub-machine, if the product needs to be placed in a carton or plastic tray.
