German pharmaceutical packaging specialist August Faller and Canada-based Bellwyck Pharma Services have established a new joint venture (JV) firm to offer packaging and logistics services for clinical trials.

Based in Grossbeeren of Brandenburg, Bellwyck Faller Pharmaceutical Services is a new JV firm that will start operations in early 2018.

Bellwyck and Faller each own 50% stake in the new JV firm, which also offers existing contract packaging services to the customers.

The new firm’s clinical trial management portfolio comprises storage and distribution capabilities in both ambient and refrigerated temperatures, as well as management of returns and reconciliation and expiry extension labeling.

The new JV firm will take the support of Bellwyck Pharma Services to provide full project management and logistics consultation for clinical trials in the North American market.

Its services range from pure material distribution to dynamic randomized distribution through IVRS systems and handling of studies in single or multi-language versions.

In addition, the new unit also offers country-specific packaging, including study material on the temperature control of the supply chain.

Bellwyck Pharma Services, which is a subsidiary of Bellwyck Packaging, offers clinical and commercial packaging solutions in Canada and the US. Through collaborating with Faller, the company is also expanding services in the European and other global markets.

Bellwyck Faller Pharmaceutical Services managing director Juergen Hendricks said: “With our new partner company, we want to sustainably establish ourselves among our customers in Europe as a partner with tailored solutions for everything related to the logistics and packaging services which are necessary to optimally organize clinical trials.”

August Faller CEO Dr Daniel Keesman said: “At the Grossbeeren location, our customers can now also receive logistics and packaging services for clinical trials specifically tailored to their requirements.”
