Malaysia-based flexographic firm Eye Graphic has announced an investment in Esko flexo platemaking solution to enhance productivity and plate quality.

Part of its continuous growth program, Eye Graphic becomes the first company in Malaysia to secure HD Flexo certification from Esko.

The premedia trade shop has installed the CDI Crystal 5080 XPS at its Penang facility, making it the first trade shop in ASEAN to do so.

It offers a consolidated, fully automated platemaking workflow that improves plate quality and increases production stability.

The Esko CDI Crystal 5080 XPS is said to have a simple screen interface for single-touch operation and supports unattended operation.

Esko said that the technology has Optics 100 V3, a new optical innovation that is only available on the Esko platform and combines best-in-class image quality with maximum productivity.

In contrast to conventional exposure frames, which use lightbulbs with variable output, the award-winning Esko technology combines UV main and back exposure and uses LEDs that provide constant UV light.

According to Esko regional sales manager Peter Goh, the duo of Crystal screening technology and Esko automation can enable Eye Graphic to have full control over the quality, performance and print consistency.

Eye Graphic managing director Benny Ho Wei Min said: “They require plates that can competently handle the complex screening required to reproduce today’s increasingly complex supplied digital files.

“With flexo presses becoming faster and more automated, the pressure for productivity improvements has been passed onto platemaking equipment manufacturers.”

Min added: “The addition of the Esko Crystal 5080 XPS CDI machine minimizes dependency on individual skill and knowledge on colour separation, while maximising the delivery of the best possible printing plate quality with the highest level of consistency and repeatability.

“The simplified process and automation also help to reduce the number of manpower hours needed to handle the complete process, freeing up operator time to handle more value-added tasks.”
