Sacmi announced that its inspection technology has been selected and commissioned by undisclosed multinational company operating in the dairy sector for its production unit in Central Africa.

The dairy firm plans to use the six units of Sacmi’s new Ulysse “all-in-one” vision systems for inspecting the lids of food containers filled with milk-derived products.
Featuring electrical control panel and wiring, the machines have already undergone testing and were launched at the dairy firm’s production unit in Central Africa.
The Ulysse machine features exclusive patented Chrometriq-100 illuminator which allows for detailed inspection of the insides of metal lids including the curling, sealing compound and panel.
Sacmi said that the illuminator uses a mix of RGB light to capture three images simultaneously with different lighting, thus providing a combination of speed and accuracy to inspection operations.
The solutions are planned to be used by the firm for the inspection of metal lids on three-piece metal food cans, intended to contain a series of milk-derived products (condensed, evaporated and powdered milk).
Sacmi said in a statement: “This is a step in the direction of total quality control for the African production unit manufacturing both the cans and the lids.”
The machine is made available with UV illuminator to inspect post repair varnish in EOE ends, or IR illuminator to inspect and measure lugs in lugged closures, and Double Shot technology.
Designed for easy and quick installation on any existing conveyor, the machine is capable of inspecting any kind of metallic end having a diameter up to 99mm or lugged closures having a diameter up to 110mm.
Sacmi further said: “The supply to this dairy primary international company, that for the first time has chosen the Sacmi inspection and quality control systems, confirms the validity of the vision technology, developed by the Group’s Automation and Inspection Systems Division, already a reference point for a wide range of applications in the field of packaging, from the quality control of capsules and lids to that of containers, labels and preforms.”
