The new press has been installed at Craig & Parsons’s plant in Folkestone, Kent. The facility already comprises six narrow web flexo presses that include a Mark Andy 2200 UV-flexo press.

Mark Andy said that the new press meets Craig & Parsons’ requirement to offer flexible production capability with high-end quality to its customers.

Craig & Parsons offers its products indirectly to the UK’s supermarket retailers and office suppliers.

Craig & Parsons official Nikki Gordon said: “We had been waiting a long time for a digital print solution like Digital One – it was an impulse buy – we saw it, liked it, and bought it!”  said Nikki Gordon.

Featuring dry toner unit, the Digital One press offers cold foil and laminating inline. Its cutting unit accepts the tooling from the company’s existing 2200 press.

Craig & Parsons uses the single flexo print station for an additional color or varnish.  The press is capable of handling multiple versions of the same label, making it very cost-effective.

Gordon added: “It was something of a no-brainer for us – especially as it will run virtually any stock, without pre-treatment, and there is no click charge.”

Since the commissioning of the press in January, the Digital One press has passed 30,000 linear meters, making it a useful tool for Craig & Parsons for attracting short run process work to meet the requirement of smaller manufacturers and artisanal suppliers, Mark Andy said.

The purchase of Digital One press is a part of Craig & Parsons’s £350,000 investment that included future-proofing the site for expansion.

The firm is working towards securing BRC accreditation for its 12,000sq/ft facility.

Craig & Parsons provides labels for a wide range of industries and sectors. Its products include laser labels; thermal transfer & direct thermal labels; digitally printed labels; barcode and variable data labeling; thermal ribbons and consumables; printed sticky labels; FSC compliant labels; and computer labels.
