The new film offers intense silver color, along with a rich velvet touch to the laminated paper/paperboard or package, Cosmo Films said.

Usually, printers avoid using silver as a background color as it is not easy to handle, especially when used as a background during printing. Moreover, this color takes longer to dry and also has a risk of ink set off during print stacking.

However, silver background is preferred by graphic art designers as it allows them to produce attractive artworks enabling the use of many other shades, and the impact it generates with gold foil stamping and UV spot coating.

Cosmo Films has introduced the metalized velvet touch film to bridge this gap.

The new film is glueable, stampable and printable, and the matte silver colored BOPP-based velvet touch lamination film should be laminated to the unprinted paper before it is sent for printing or post-lamination embellishments.

The film is available in 32 microns for thermal lamination and in 20 microns for wet lamination. The film offers good printability with offset, UV offset, screen, UV inkjet and laser printing.

In addition to providing excellent scuff resistance, the film is also suitable for post-lamination operations such as UV spot coating, and foil stamping and embossing.

The film is ideal for lamination of premium products such as perfume cartons, liquor and wine cartons, gift and jewelry boxes, shopping bags for luxury brands, and graphic arts industry.

Cosmo Films CEO Pankaj Poddar said: “Packaging design is an important differentiator given that the brand owners are extremely conscious of their brand image and consumer experience these days.

“With the addition of metalized velvet film to the existing portfolio, Cosmo now offers an enhanced portfolio of premium lamination films to choose from.”

Cosmo Films’ film offering include BOPP, CPP and soon to be introduced BOPET films. The company’s customer base is spread in over 100 countries with plant cum distribution centres in India, US, Korea & Japan.
