The Industry Council for Packaging and the Environment (INCPEN) and the Packaging Federation have joined forces to organise Packaging: 2020 Vision, a conference at London's Institute of Directors on November 24 examining the future of packaging – from product innovations, consumer preferences and demographic shifts to supply chain developments and environmental legislation.

These and other burning issues will be discussed by senior speakers from industry, UK and EU Government and strategy groups.

John Elkington, chairman of corporate responsibility and sustainable development consultancy Sustainability, a world authority on his subject, will give the keynote speech.

He will be joined by Dr Frank Shaw, director of the Centre for Future Studies; Richard Swannell, head of innovation at the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP); Felix Helander, director of business intelligence at Rexam; and James Walton, senior business analyst at the Institute of Grocery Distribution.

David Perchard and Gary Parker of Pira International will also present the initial findings of their studies for the EU that will inform legislative policy on packaging beyond 2008.
