Wedgewood Pharmacy has provided a new look to compounded 2-DeNT mucoadhesive powder, commonly prescribed by dentists for canker sores and oral ulcers, by packing it in 1gm, single-use vials. The vials are dispensed nine to a box, and each vial is planned for use by a single patient.
Wedgewood said that the single-use vial packaging will be easier for dentists and their patients to use than the previous multi-dose bottle, a cotton-tipped applicator is dipped into the vial, and the medication is applied directly to the affected area. The single-dose vials can be provided to the patient for in-home use.
Compounded 2-DeNT mucoadhesive powder is a combination of Nystatin, Tetracycline, Metronidazole, Dexamethasone, Diphenhydramine and Zinc Oxide. The adherent nature of these ingredients increases the time the medication stays on the surface, and also the time the medication has to exert therapeutic effect.
2-DeNT is compounded exclusively by Wedgewood Pharmacy under license from The Texas A&M University System in cooperation with the Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A&M Health Science Center. It is available by prescription only.
