Brownell has developed VMAP, a range of polymer-based adsorbents capable of adsorbing moisture, odours and volatiles.

Using a combination of polymers and adsorbent and desiccants, the range of materials is said to offer “new and improved” opportunities for preventing the deleterious effects of moisture and high humidity, including condensation and corrosion.

The company says VMAP maintains a high moisture adsorption capacity during the moulding process with the added advantage of the vapour adsorption property of the polymer.

The material can be moulded or machined to suit applications where complex shapes are required to occupy the available space and can be fixed using screws, adhesives or mechanical retention methods.

Brownell says that among the advantages of moulded adsorbents are the low dusting and particle loss, even during high mechanical environments such as road transport. VMAP has a wide operating temperature range and can be reactivated to recover adsorption ability when saturated.
