Germany-based industrial packaging firm Mauser Group has acquired the plastic drum and IBC units of Greif in Brazil, strengthening its presence in the country.

Mauser said the acquisition provides it with a broader customer base for industry line of plastic packaging and IBCs (intermediate bulk containers).

Industrial packaging firm Greif produces steel, plastic, fibre, flexible and corrugated containers, packaging accessories and containerboard.

Mauser expects Greif’s decision to quit the plastic drum and IBC business in Brazil to support its strategy to expand in those areas.

Mauser Brazil president and CEO Ricardo Goldenberg said: "We are very pleased with the addition of these plastic drum and IBC customers. We see tremendous opportunity here in Brazil and plan to continue our strategy of growing across all our market segments."

The transition of customers from Grief’s products to Mauser-produced products is expected to complete in June.
Mauser Brazil sales and marketing vice-president Edson Rossi said: "The Mauser sales team will reach out to all the customers affected by this transition in order to achieve a smooth integration.

"Our goal is 100% customer satisfaction, so during this period we will work with all the customers to ensure we provide them with the best solutions and value the market has to offer."

This is the second acquisition by Mauser in over a month.

In April, the company has purchased IBC North America and Clean Tide Container in order to target the agricultural chemicals industry in the US.

Founded in 1896 and headquartered in Bruehl, Mauser Group has consolidated revenue of over $1.3bn and employs about 4,400.
