Bicine is used as a buffering agent and has a pKa of 8.35 at 20°C. It is also a general purpose buffer for biological research. The useful pH range is 7.6 – 9.0 for this buffer. The biological applications that use Bicine are tissue culture, phosphorylation, protein synthesis and preventing the binding to non-receptor materials. Bicine is available in two grades: Bio Industrial and Bio Synthesized. These grades range from industry standard to well above industry standard.
