Valmet has secured an order to deliver a warp control system for Stora Enso Packaging's corrugated board facility in Ostroleka, Poland.

Stora Enso is purchasing the system to decrease warp of the final product and enhance the overall performance of the corrugated board plant.

Valmet plans to deliver the warp control system by late spring this year.

Valmet automation sales manager Juha Mykkänen said: "We have good cooperation with Stora Enso Packaging. Due to the positive experiences and results gained from earlier deliveries, Stora Enso decided to choose Valmet as the supplier of the automatic warp control system for its corrugators.

Based on moisture measurement, the warp control system will correct warping of all corrugated board types.

The warp control system features Valmet IQ converting scanners with moisture measurements, Valmet IQ moisturizer and Valmet IQ warp measurement, which are incorporated together with automatic MPC closed-loop controls.

The moisture level of the final product plays a crucial role in wiping out of corrugated post-warping.

With around 27,000 employees in over 35 countries, Stora Enso is the supplier of renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, wood and paper on global markets.

Its products are used by the customers in the packaging, joinery and construction industries, as well as publishers, printing houses and paper merchants.

Valmet supplies process technologies, automation and services for the pulp, paper and energy industries

The company’s technology offering includes pulp mills, tissue, board and paper production lines, as well as power plants for bioenergy production.

In 2017, Valmet supplied a moisturiser system for Schumacher Poledno’s corrugated line in Bukowiec, Poland.

The company supplied its IQ Moisturiser with two beams that will allow the mill to enhance corrugated board quality and to control losses during production caused by the warped board.

The system is equipped with an air-atomised micro-droplet nozzle, combined with a linear water control valve and an electromechanical actuator with position feedback.
