Paul Curtis Associates, in co-operation with electrical test instrument manufacturer Megger, has established Packtest, an environmental, materials and product/pack test facility equipped with LAB fixed displacement and random vibration tables, a LAB precision drop tester, Instron, Chatillon & Lloyd Instruments tensile testing machines, and an RDE bump test machine.

Products and packs can be tested to the standard required by ISTA, BS, EN, ISO, DEF STD, MIL, IEC and many other worldwide industry, mail order and trade standards. The facility also offers additional testing, such as Cobb Water Absorption, Taber Stiffness, Mullen Burst, Moisture, Adhesive peel and many others.

Paul Curtis Associates is currently a member of the ISTA but not yet fully accredited to this or other groups, as the facility was built up primarily for the company’s own internal use. However, formal test procedures are followed and accreditation will be sought in the very near future, it states.

“As a result, we are able to offer this facility to our existing clients and others, for general screening tests and mensuration, at short notice and at considerably reduced rates compared to other facilities. Our current clients include: Hozelock, Baxi Fires Division, Flambeau Europlast and Heatrae Sadia.”
