Smurfit has relaunched its Gemini corrugated board to capitalise on growing demand for additional strength without the bulk of double wall board.
Gemini is a single wall board with a twin-ply fluted centre, claimed to make it super-strong, yet 28% thinner than a BC flute offering comparable performance.
Savings in storage space, freight and manufacturing costs are the claimed benefits. “Savings can be made in storage and transport, for example, when you can stack 250 Gemini flat packs in the same height as a stack of 180 BC flute flat packs,” says Smurfit South West sales director Andy Micklewright.
