A new insertless horizontal spray actuator for aerosol applications such as bodysprays and hairsprays shown in prototype last year has been introduced by the Plasticum Group.

The Dutch company says the response to the “Cooper” last year was excellent, leading it to further optimise the design. A new tool, equipment and assembly machine have been installed at the firm’s Tilburg site, and the company is now ready to mass produce.

The device, said to offer significantly optimised performance over existing one-piece actuators, integrates both actuator button and the insert, manufactured in a single shot moulding. A special chamber and channel design stimulate the acceleration of particles into a swirling pattern, while the exit opening of the button is positioned right above the dip tube to provide optimised control and performance. The actuator is made from PP and can be supplied with an overcap from Plasticum’s IRIS range.
