X-ray inspection equipment manufacturer Smiths Detection opened a new UK Product Inspection Centre in Grimsby in Lincolnshire on November 7.
The 4,000 ft2 facility will serve as a centre of excellence to support UK and Irish customers for the company’s Eagle x-ray range. The centre will offer full applications testing, workshop facilities and sales demonstration areas, alongside housing at least 10 Eagle machines. The Eagle systems are widely used for quality assurance in the food processing industry.
Smiths says the centre’s establishment in England recognises the importance of the food industry in the UK and Ireland, where there are reportedly over 7,000 food processors, forming the core of the Smiths Detection UK customer base. It claims other industry sectors in the area, including chemicals, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and toiletries, will also benefit from the equipment and services offered.
