Scodix is planning to make its E106 Digital Enhancement Press commercially available for folding carton printers and converters in the packaging industry from December 2017.

As part of this effort, the firm said it will host an open house from 4-6 December 2017 at Gundlach Packaging Group’s facility in Oerlinghausen, Germany for the commercial release of the Scodix E106 press.

At the open house, the Scodix E106, which is designed in B1 (1060x760mm) format, will be running live ‘in situ’, the company said.

Scodix said that Gundlach Packaging Group is the first company in Europe to install the Scodix E106 Digital Enhancement Press for beta stage testing.

Gundlach CEO and managing partner Dr Uwe Schürmann said: “The packaging market is still in the early stages of digital technology adoption, digital enhancement in a B1 format is the frontier – consequently Scodix provides a true distinction from the competition.

“We are thrilled that we were the first company in Europe to test the Scodix E106 and we’re excited to show the world what the technology can do at the upcoming Open House.”

Scodix plans to make available the next Scodix E106 units, which are planned for installation in the EU and US, during Q1 2018.

Schürmann added: “Scodix provides the solution for the difficulties of short runs for versioning and personalization, shorter and shorter timescales, and increased competition in a challenging economy.”

Unveiled during the Drupa 2016 event, the Scodix E106 is designed to have ultra-fast production capacity with up to 4,000SPH and support short to medium run lengths.

Scodix CEO Roy Porat said: “The B1 format brings all the advantages of digital enhancement currently being exploited in the commercial market and takes us a step closer a new standard in packaging enhancement.”
