The first Schiavi gravure press to be manufactured in China starred in an open house at Bobst’s Shanghai production plant. Nearly 100 Chinese packaging companies attended the three-day event, which included presentations by Registron Integrated and Sicpa.
The Shanghai SG 1200 is an eight colour, 1,250mm width press, fitted with an electronic lineshaft and optimized for flexible packaging printing. It was demonstrated on 19 micron BOPP at 300m/min, with a fast change-over followed by printing on 12 micron PET film, at the same speed. The gravure cylinders were engraved by the Yun-Chen company.
