A nine per cent rise in pretax profits is reported by Rexam in its results for the half year to June 30, 2003.

“We have had a good first six months thanks to a combination of a better product mix and volume increases in the majority of our businesses as well as our continued focus on efficiency savings,” comments Jeremy Lancaster, chairman of Rexam. “The start to the second half of the year has been encouraging and we remain confident that 2003 will be another successful year for the Group.”

Rexam is one of the world’s top five consumer packaging groups. Its global operations focus on beverage packaging and plastics packaging for the beauty, healthcare, and food industries, with an on-going turnover of approximately £3 billion.
