Surface Specialties UCB will increase prices of all its radiation curable products in Europe, on September 15, 2004, or as contracts permit. The company says it has limited and postponed the new price increases as much as possible.

The price increase for monomers and epoxy acrylates will be €0.20/kg. The increase for all other radiation curable products will be €0.10/kg.

According to Surface Specialties UCB, these adjustments have been made necessary by “very rapid and dramatic changes” in the cost and availability of almost all raw materials used in radiation curable resins, such as acrylic acid, epoxy resins, and polyols. It says it is putting every effort into securing sufficient supplies to meet growing demand for the products.

At the start of August the company announced increases in list and off-list prices for all grades of its Maprenal and Resimene amino crosslinker products sold in Europe for all orders shipped on or after.

All high solids amino resin, including hexamethoxymethyl melamines (HMMM), conventional amino resins – methylated and butylated melamines, benzoguanamines, and urea crosslinkers rose by €0.10/kg

Those price adjustments were said to be necessary for the company to continue overcoming sustained and on-going increases in key raw materials, energy, transportation, packaging costs, and to ensure sustainability of its business.
