German oat flakes and breakfast cereals producer Peter Kölln is using Feldmuehle Uetersen’s MOB-Liner paper in the oatmeal packaging.

The company is using MOB-Liner as a standard material for the inner bag of the Köllnflocken oatmeal product.

MOB-Liner is a flexible packaging paper developed by using virgin fiber material to meet the requirements of paper-based packaging solutions.

Feldmuehle’s flexible packaging paper enables to protect the products from pollutants by mineral oil residues without using film and composite materials.

The contamination of packaged foodstuffs is generally occurred by gaseous mineral oil components from the surrounding packaging, while packaging paper with special barrier layer in the packaging paper will provide safety for the products.

A special multi-layer coating application produces a thick and closed paper surface, which prevents both contamination by gaseous mineral oils and penetration of greases through the packaging.

MOB-Liner and MOB-Flex products can be used in packaging applications of dry and fatty foodstuffs. They are used in inner bags of folding boxes, multi-layered bags, bags or sacks, as well as lamination for corrugated boards.

Feldmuehle Uetersen sales and marketing director Eckhard Kallies said: “Brand owners that want to make further progress in the area of food safety have an effective and well-proven product available in the form of the mineral oil barrier paper from Feldmuehle.”

Kölln packaging purchasing head Robert Bethke said: “The safety of our food has top priority for Kölln. That's why we proactively looked for a solution to reliably protect our oatmeal from harmful environmental influences on the way from production to trade and the consumer.”

Feldmuehle Uetersen develops and produces white coated label papers, packaging papers and graphic papers for the German and international market.

With around 400 employees, the company offers a range of products for the label and packaging industry, printing and publishing houses, brand owners, agencies and converters.
