New owner of CMM the PennWell Corp has announced plans to grow the exhibition and conference. In addition to several new show features, the company has unveiled a strategy for expanding the CMM franchise into “a 24/7/365 global media resource that will provide many new benefits to converting professionals worldwide”.

“For close to three decades, CMM International has been recognized around the world as the leading resource and best biennial opportunity for converters,” says CMM show director and PennWell group publisher Steve Taneman. “Our goal is to work closely with our association and trade magazine partners worldwide to expand the offering of these valuable educational and informational opportunities through a variety of formats on an on-going basis.”

His plans include a series of webcasts produced in conjunction with industry associations and magazines on a variety of important technical and management issues; e-newsletters on various topics targeted to specific market segments; and conferences and seminars addressing specific issues and processes, in various venues around the world.

These offerings will be archived on various websites for access 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year (24/7/365). New CMM shows will also be launched outside North America and in areas of the world not adequately served by converting events. In addition, some “true converting/package printing” events will be co-located at CMM International 2007 and other locations.

New show features will also be added to CMM, including expansion of pavilions and areas of ‘special interest’ on the show floor. Plans are underway to offer exhibitors special incentives to bring more machinery to the show.

The new owner also promises an enhanced conference programme and “significant cost reductions for attendees and exhibitors”.

CMM International 2007, will run during June 4-7, at the Donald E Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, near Chicago.
