Cosmetic and pharmaceutical spray specialist Pfeiffer in Germany says it has developed a pump system that prevents make-up components, such as powder and non-dissolved wax particles, creating a sediment in the finished formula.

Pfeiffer’s “Make-up Pump”, a 140µl gel-pump system, will initially be incorporated within the company’s Metropolitan pump pack, the fruit of its collaboration with Dieter Bakic Design. Pfeiffer says: “The combination of industrial and designer experience has allowed the creation and development of an ergonomic product, suitable for high viscosity dosing creams and gels, with a design that could also be adapted to high-end skincare.”

Alongside the optimised product flow resistance of the gel-pump’s ball and spring, other key features include high temperature resistance, five priming strokes on average, smooth actuation force and availability with three gaskets – Triseal, APRS and rubber KA 6501 with a phthalate-free formulation.
