France-based Nexans has unveiled the Mobiway MOB drum kit, a connected cable transport and installation solution for medium to large-sized building projects.
The Mobiway MOB drum kit intends to make the process of manipulating and unwinding cables safe and easy for installers, unlike the traditional cable drums that are bulky and unwieldy.
Nexans, a cable and optical fibre maker, said that the drum kit requires only one person to manipulate the cables, halving the installation time.
The second generation of Mobiway will be replaced by this advanced Mobiway MOB, which is lighter and easier to travel and increases time savings by up to 15%. The drum kit is a part of the Mobiway line, a full range of integrated reusable packaging and tooling solutions.
The Mobiway MOB drum kit has improved workplace safety, lowering the danger of worker injuries and lengthening product lifetime on construction sites because of its ergonomic design, the company claimed.
Additionally, the connected packaging solution enables installers to immediately acquire all pertinent product information.
They can obtain the product sheet and cable installation instructions, and even use Vigishield Anti Counterfeit to verify the authenticity of cables by just scanning the drum kit.

Nexans claimed the new packaging solution is reusable with any Mobiway MOB compatible drum and contains 76% recycled materials.
The solution, designed and produced in France, is said to be the only drum set to facilitate transportation and unwinding of low-voltage cable lengths up to 300m, the cable and optical fibre maker said.
