KlaFold, a coated unbleached kraft paperboard manufactured by Klabin, Brazil’s largest paperboard producer, is now available from MeadWestvaco as an alternative to lightweight coated paperboard. A three-ply structure is said to give KlaFold strength, printability and converting performance while requiring less fibre than competitive boards. Particularly suited for lightweight packaging applications, it is said to offer a higher yield at the same caliper as most other coated boards.
