A Komori Lithrone 528 with coater will be installed in the Johannesburg plant of specialist packaging printer MasterPack in January, joining another Lithrone 528, Lithrone 540 and a five colour Heidelberg Speedmaster.
Says chief executive Tony Butler: “The high spec creative packaging market is extremely demanding in terms of quality and we wanted to ensure our customers were consistently happy with their end product. We felt the best way to achieve this was to bring the printing operation in house so we could maintain complete control over the quality process.
“Our investment in a new Lithrone will now complete this transition, and the addition of a coating unit on this press will allow us to complete effectively with other traditional UV varnished products, and offer a much greater variety of specialized multi colour and metallic ink printing.”
In addition to the new press, MasterPack installed a Screen CTP system in December.
