Italian press manufacturer Gidue reports that in the first six month period of 2004 it equalled its turnover for 2003, and its current order backlog promises a record breaking 100 per cent growth for the year.

Financial managing director Cristina Toffolo says the company is confident of its long term ability to grow through continuous technical innovation and productivity. “We have been successful in addressing on-going financial and manufacturing issues and will continue to make major business investments to maintain our position as a leading innovator in the industry,” she declares.

In order to support “booming sales” in 2004 the production plant was re-organized. This is said to have allowed it to achieve a 65 per cent increase in productivity while maintaining production parameters – “and with only a 12 per cent increase in the work cost in 2004”.

A major redesign of the Combat range of presses is planned for the beginning of 2006, and a new range of machines is promised by 2007.
