New from UK based TCL Packaging, Fotoflex Plus is said to be a “revolutionary” flexo process that allows “faithful reproduction from the design through to the finished film”. Already at 175 lines per inch, it boasts the capacity to create 200 lpi, “so that packaging designs are reproduced without losing any detai”l.

According to the company, results are comparable in quality with gravure printing without the expense associated with high set-up costs and engraved metal cylinders.

“Fotoflex Plus actually surpasses gravure print quality on certain designs,” claims managing director Tim Crow. “The implications are really exciting for our customers – designs that remain faithful from concept to printed film and ideal for flexible, shorter runs, and for multiple promotions and offers.”

The new process is based on only eight colours but produces excellent results for up to 10 colour designs, he adds.

“The secret of Fotoflex Plus is the use of the latest laser technology, never used before in flexography, to create a new type of printing plate. This represents a quantum leap in technology, allowing flexo printing to achieve the highest possible accuracy and faithful results.”

The new process is said to be ideal for complex designs, multiple colour vignettes, sharp detail and high resolution photography. It promises added depth of colour and a life-like density, clarity and lustre to the finished films.
