Polimoon Fibrenyle, which acquired the Fibrenyle packaging business from Alcan in October, is to close its Norwich plastic packaging factory in August, with the loss of at least 57 jobs.

The plant, which produces plastic pharmaceutical and healthcare packaging, employs 91 staff, and it is hoped when it shuts down at least 34 will take up vacancies at Polimoon Fibrenyle’s Beccles, Suffolk and Sutton, Nottinghamshire factories.

The Norwich injection blowmoulding business will move to Beccles, the injection moulding operations to Sutton and the pharmaceutical output to Polimoon Fibrenyle’s Langeskov site in Denmark. A number of Norwich staff will also be invited to transfer to Langeskov.

Fibrenyle managing director Steve Isherwood says the decision to close the factory follows a strategic review by Polimoon.
