As an alternative to expensive polycarbonate labelstocks, Avery Dennison has developed an ultra thin Fasson overlaminating film that protects the integrity of nameplates and, it is claimed, can save costs for durable goods labelling.

Fasson Overlam Polycarb 50 Matt offers converters the opportunity to protect undersurface printed polycarbonate nameplates, or simply to overlaminate nameplates and rating plates, membrane switches, and touchscreens. UL approved for indoor use, the 50 micron matt velvet facestock is said to offer high read-through quality without image distortion, low glare, durability, and fingerprint and scratch resistance.

Coupled with a clear permanent adhesive and a 36 micron PET liner to create a clear-on-clear laminate, it has good handling characteristics and aids smooth, accurate dispensing of automatically applied printed nameplates – even at high speeds, the company claims. Once applied, it performs within the broad service temperature range (-40 to +100 deg C) required for many durable electronics, electrical, and white goods.

Fasson Overlam Polycarb 50 Matt is said to be available in low minimum quantities and on a two-day order turnround.
