At Monaco’s Luxe Pack exhibition last month DuPont’s Cosmetic Solutions division showcased prototypes of impactful illuminated cosmetics packs and point-of-sale materials designed using electroluminescent technology from the DuPont Microcircuit Materials (MCM) business.

Working with an “alliance partner” with expertise in screen printing electric circuitry for eletroluminescent lamps, DuPont Cosmetic Solutions has discovered it is feasible to “miniaturise all components” so as to integrate them into cosmetic packaging. It is now perfecting a range of illuminated bottle, jar, closure and display concepts.

Ralph Wares, global design team leader, DuPont Cosmetic Solutions, explains: “We can offer a cost-effective, unique alternative for cosmetic displays that can really set products apart. In addition, electroluminescent lighting promotes and encourages use of our Surlyn material in cosmetics packaging; its toughness and transparency complements the technology to produce a unique, appealing packaging solution.”
