Sambazon, a supplier of organic beverages made of acai, has launched its new Antioxidant Elixir in single-serve PET bottles from Amcor PET Packaging.
The company decided to roll out its clarified acai beverage in a clear 11oz PET bottle. The company said that PET’s clarity was the deciding factor over HDPE and glass was rejected due to environmental concerns like weight and cost of shipping.
Scott Koch, vice president of operations for Sambazon, said: Aesthetics and clarity were the key drivers to PET because our goal was to create ‘disruptive’ single-serve packaging for on-the-go consumers. And the ability to customize in PET offers the best value proposition to meet the needs of our customers.
The bottle features a full-body PET shrink label that highlights the beverage’s deep purple color. The company said that its Antioxidant Elixirs are sweetened naturally with agave and infused with a blend of acai, acerola, and organic botanical extracts. They will be offered in three flavors: acai berry, acai passion fruit, and acai blackberry and will be available soon nationally in grocery and natural food stores.
Sambazon, based in San Clemente, California, is a vertically integrated supplier and marketer of acai products. The company’s product line includes organic acai beverages, frozen acai smoothie packs and sorbets, acai supplements, and Amazon Energy.
