Robert McBride has set up shrink wrapping equipment from CDi Worldwide to increase its capacity for handling its recently awarded contract to pack cans of WD40.

The shrink wrappers have aerosol-friendly attributes, which includes an extra-sensitive sealing jaw and a property that enables WD40 cans the property so they can be safely retrieved from the shrink tunnel in times of power loss.

The cans of WD40 are manually loaded to the point-of-sale-ready trays before they are wrapped with the shrink cover. The wrapper could process 24-packs of 450ml and 100ml canisters with a speed of up to 15 trays per minute. CDi could arrange to supply and commission the line in a span of 12 weeks.

Richard Kelso, manufacturing engineer if Robert McBride, asserted: “To fulfil the WD40 order, we needed shrink wrappers that could handle 750mm wide film and the CDi machines do exactly that”. This shrink wrapping packaging would not only reduce the space but also happens to be cost effective.
