Philip Kingsley is the first company to use M&H Plastics's new biodegradable material for blow-moulded plastic containers.

Philip Kingsley, a hair care firm, has been reported the first company to use plastic packaging manufacturer M&H Plastics’s new biodegradable material for blow-moulded plastic containers.

M&H Plastics, a premier supplier of plastic packaging including a large range of plastic bottles, plastic jars, plastic tubs, closures and flexible tubes, said that the product decomposes at a “fraction of the normal rate for plastics.” The company claims that this provides environmental benefits where the product is unlikely to be recycled.

The biodegradability is reported to be available in blow-moulded HDPE and PP bottles, polyethylene tubes and PP moulded caps.

Simon Chidgey, sales and marketing director at M&H Plastics, said: “Biodegradable products are a new addition to the portfolio of products M&H can offer to meet the increased demand for sustainable products.”

A range of scalp toners by Philip Kingsley are the first products to maximise the use of M&H’s biodegradable plastic, and the firm has selected the 75ml and 250ml Tall Boston Round bottles.

Claire Edgecombe, managing director of Philip Kingsley, said: “M&H worked as part of the team to help create a stylish collection using environmentally-responsive products at a cost-effective price point with no compromise on design.”
