UK-based Nisa-Today has extended its waste packaging scheme to all members located around the M25 corridor. Currently this scheme involves collecting cardboard and plastic from members' stores and then recycling this back at its Harlow depot.

Since the beginning of scheme Nisa-Today has collected a total of 1,736 cages of waste from 155 stores in just three weeks.

Backed by its successful response, the scheme is set to be extended in three stages starting on the 13 September to the entire membership served directly from Nisa-Today’s Harlow depot.

The scheme gives its members the potential to cut their annual waste costs by up to 90%. It also reduces members’ stores landfill charges and has an extremely positive effect on the environment, as reported by TalkingRetail.

Nisa-Today’s distribution director Jonathan Stowe stated that the Waste Packaging programme is progressing very well and they have received excellent feedback from Nisa members.

“It’s our intention to eventually offer this service to all Nisa members, which will significantly benefit both members and the environment,” Stowe added.
