India-based Marck Biosciences has developed Paracetamol IV in plastic pack and plans to launch it in India within the end of this year. It currently manufactures the product at its Kheda facility near Ahmedabad and has started exporting it to countries in West Africa last month.

Marck managing director Patel said the company’s formulation and development team has been working on preparing and studying different formulations of Paracetamol IV for the past three years to ultimately come up with Paracetamol IV first time in plastic pack in the world.

“Paracetamol IV in plastic will have lower freight costs and breakages and help in more competitive pricing in comparison to glass bottles”, Patel added.

The company has developed Paracetamol IV in plastic pack using blow-fill-seals technology with an investment of around Rs 30 lakh. Company expects sales worth $1.1m from exports by the end of this year.

Marck manufactures and markets a range of sterile dosages spanning fluid therapy, ophthalmics, respiratory, irrigation solutions and anti-infectives across India and also contract manufactures sterile dosage pharma products for leading pharma companies in India.
