Linx Printing Technologies has unwrapped a new £1m ink manufacturing plant which has replaced the previous facility.

Linx Printing Technologies has unwrapped a new £1m ink manufacturing plant at its headquarters in St Ives of Cambridge. The new ink and solvent plant has replaced the previous facility of this coding specialist.

The last facility was partly damaged in a fire accident last June; and the new facility incorporates additional safety features to avoid future accidents. The threshold of this new development is the £300,000 sprinkler system that provides a targeted fire suppression system.

The system draws water from a 473,000l tank and adds a fire-suppressant foam before it gets pumped into sprinkler heads. The company also included further bund ramos at unit entrances, which also contain spillages if required.

A Linx spokesman opined that these manufacturing techniques will “allow Linx to produce made-to-order inks, improving both quality and on-time delivery”. Tony Stafford, chief financial officer at Linx, asserted: “the investment will be a sign of Danaher’s commitment to Linx’s UK manufacturing base.”
