UK-based Land Securities, commercial property owner, has signed up to the Every Can Counts drinks can recycling scheme for its Willow Place & Corby Town Centre site.
Land Securities has more than 50 retail parks and shopping centres across the UK and Every Can Counts hopes that a successful venture in Corby will provide other opportunities to introduce the scheme elsewhere.
Willow Place & Corby Town Centre is a 28-acre mixed-use site that has 174 retail units and Land Securities manages the waste collection for 112 retailers.
Around 250 organisations across 600 sites are already signed up to the Every Can Counts scheme, and there are almost 3,000 branded collection points.
Schemes are being run in fire stations, retailers and also public areas such as beaches.
Every Can Counts has being introduced as part of a “focused green strategy” that is being implemented by Land Securities to demonstrate an environmental commitment, which includes diverting as much waste from landfill as possible.
