Kelcourt Plastics, a medical device manufacturer in US, has plans to establish medical tubing plant in Tullamore in the Irish Republic.

According to the company, the plant is expected to make specialised tubes, which are used for anesthesia, urology, cardiology, surgery, IV systems, and emergency.

Kelcourt was acquired by PPC Industries in December last year. PPC makes flexible packaging for medical, food and industrial customers.

The PPC is considering options for flexible film conversion in Kelcourt plant in Ireland, PPC said.

Kelcourt president Patrick Mickle said they searched for the right location to establish an operation to meet the demand for their medical and speciality tubing capability as well as packaging capabilities in Ireland.

Kelcourt was founded in 1982. The company operates more than 30 extrusion lines in three locations in the US and one in Singapore.

Privately-held PPC has plants in Wisconsin and Costa Rica that extrude, print and convert flexible packaging. PPC also makes medical-grade tubing.
