Germany-based reusable packaging service provider IFCO has signed a long-term agreement with Austria-based SPAR Österreichische Warenhandels to provide Reusable Packaging services for its fruits and vegetables packaging.

SPAR business process manager fruit & vegetables Dietmar Steiner stated that the environmentally-friendly packaging system of IFCO enables the company to achieve cost savings and efficiency improvements over the entire supply chain.

IFCO CEO Karl Pohler commented that the company delivers superior logistic services to the Austrian retail market through this agreement.

IFCO has also signed a similar service agreement with France-based CARREFOUR to provide services for the company’s fruits, vegetables and meat products packaging.

IFCO is a logistics service provider operating a pool of Reusable Plastic Containers (RPCs) globally, which are used primarily to transport fresh produce from growers to leading grocery retailers.
