Graham Packaging has acquired China Roots Packaging from PCCS Group Berhad, marking former's first operation in China.

Graham Packaging, a US based plastic container company, has acquired China Roots Packaging, a container company located in Guangzhou, China, from PCCS Group Berhad, a Malaysian company. The deal between Graham Packaging and PCCS Group Berhad was completed on July 1, 2010.

The announcement for this acquisition was made earlier in the month of April, 2010. The purchase of China Roots is the first operation for Graham Packaging in China.

Mark Burgess, CEO of China Roots, said: “The acquisition of China Roots opens up a significant new market opportunity for Graham Packaging. We are excited about taking a major step forward in our pursuit of global growth and serving our multinational customers in this important market.”

China Roots operates a container manufacturing plant in the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development District. The plant makes plastic containers and closures for food, health care, personal care and petrochemical products. Its customers include several global consumer product marketers. The sales of China Roots for the year 2009 were approximately RMB 111m.

Graham Packaging is a US supplier of plastic containers for different kinds of foods and beverages and quart/liter plastic motor oil containers in US, Canada, Brazil.
