Austria’s Engel has introduced its new all-electric e-cap press for moulding caps and closures.
Engel has also introduced the Ecodrive, a hybrid technology that uses both electric and hydraulic power, for its Victory and Duo models.
The injection unit is all-electric and is combined with a smart hydraulic pump to run the platen movement, nozzle contract force and core pulls.
According to Engel officials, the hydraulic pump shuts off during injection, and the Ecodrive boasts energy consumption that is an improvement of 25 to 60% over standard hydraulics.
Engel packaging business head Walter Jungwirth said the e-cap is the only all-electric injection press for closure cap production and is extremely energy-efficient, has low cooling water requirements and offers an impressive level of availability.
The company has also introduced the e-insert, an all-electric version of an Engel insert machine with a servoelectric rotary table and a fully electric injection unit.
