Zimbawe-based beverage manufacturer, Delta has announced a $13m plan to install a new bottling equipment for returnable glass at its Southerton depot.

Delta said the equipment has the capacity to produce 600 000 hectolitres or 42 000 kingsize bottles per hour with an improved variety of packs, bulawayo24.com reported.

The company expects the plant would boost its performance and in volume recovery, besides showing a growth in production in the country. The new system is expected to be functional by the end of next month.

Delta registered sales revenue of $408m in the half-year, ended February 2011 against the $281m in the corresponding period last year.

The firm also made an announcement last year that it expects to inprove its capacity utilisation in the new bottling lines and packaging glass with an investment of $160m.
